AZTECS VS ROME
GEOGRAPHY
They both were very close to bodies of water and both had things like hills/mountains around them that served as protection.
GENERAL HISTORY
They were both empires! They had many leaders who strived for conquest.
GOVERNMENT
Their government systems were very different. Rome was a democracy, but the Aztecs had their own version of a monocracy.
LAW AND JUSTICE
They both had publicly known laws and were both fans of harsh punishments.
RELIGION
They both had multiple gods that represented different aspects of the world around them. They also adopted gods from civilizations before them and around them. A lot of the Aztec's gods came from previous Mexican civilizations including the Tlaloc, Quetzalcoatl, and Tezcatlipoca.
SOCIAL STRUCTURE
They both had a harsh social hierarchy. However the Aztec commoners had a bit more freedom in their professions.
EVERYDAY LIFE
Aztecs have a higher view on women. Romes everyday life seems more lavish.
URBAN AND RURAL LIVING
Although Rome has a great difference between the two, Aztecs lived in very large cities like the capital, or in smaller versions spread out across the region called city-states. There wasn't much rural activity.
ECONOMY
They were both high in trade.
ART
Rome didn't put that much focus on the arts. Although art wasn't the Aztecs main focus, it was very developed and beautiful.
SCIENCE
They both had amazing architecture. Both knew about the wheel even if they used it differently.
AZTECS VS MESOPOTAMIA
GEOGRAPHY
Both very close to bodies of water. The Mesopotamians were in an oasis area though, while the Aztecs were surrounded by jungle.
GENERAL HISTORY
Both started out as small communities which grew to bustling cities and a nation.
GOVERNMENT
They both had more of a Monocracy in their government, or at least a very powerful ruler and no democracy.
LAW AND JUSTICE
Both had very harsh punishments for very harsh laws. Death was a favourite.
RELIGION
Multiple gods focused around nature and the natural world.
SOCIAL STRUCTURE
They both had a deffinent class structure of rich vs poor with rules set out for each. They were both pretty fair towards the classes though.
EVERYDAY LIFE
Mesopotamians were not nearly as nice to women as the Aztecs were.
URBAN AND RURAL LIVING
They both had huge cities were most of the population lived.
ECONOMY
They both had money systems and used their water ways for trade.
ART
Both focused mainly on their gods in their art pieces. Aztecs were more sophisticated.
SCIENCE
Both had concepts of the wheel, but I think it wasn't very important to either of them at first. They also formed water transportation.
